Government policies including encouraging electrification, restricting fuel vehicles, and legislating to support autonomous driving and other measures and their possible impact have attracted much attention.
"The transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry is a long-term process. Although China's new energy vehicles started early, their overall strength and advantages are meager. Under the new situation of technological innovation, industrial upgrading, policy, and business format innovation, there are still new challenges and opportunities." On January 20, Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang said at the 2018 China Electric Vehicles Conference Forum with the theme of "Grasp the trend of global change and achieve high-quality development".
Statistics, in 2017, the sales of new energy vehicles in major countries in the world exceeded 1.42 million, and the sales volume in China reached 777,000 (accounting for 2.69% of new vehicle sales). The cumulative global sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 3.4 million, with China accounting for more than 50%.
Wan Gang pointed out that 2012 to 2015 is the stage of comprehensive innovation and policy implementation for the development of new energy in China. “We are optimistic that the sales of new energy vehicles will reach 1 million in 2018, but we must continue to maintain the growth trend of doubling the next year. However, we will break through by 2020. The goal of annual sales of 2 million vehicles and holdings of 5 million vehicles will take a long time.” He also said that the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry is a long-term process. Although China's new energy vehicles started early, their overall strength advantage is weak. There are still new challenges and opportunities in the new situation of technological innovation, industrial upgrading, policy, and business format innovation.
The specific manifestations are as follows: First, pure electric vehicles have shortcomings such as short cruising range, and increasing the cruising capacity cannot be solved simply by increasing the battery, and its functions are not yet fully covering the automotive market demand. Second, the traditional internal combustion engine drive system will face more stringent emission standards and the requirements of reducing carbon consumption, and the pressure of transformation will be transformed into the driving force for industrial upgrading. The third is the unbalanced and inadequate infrastructure construction, and the construction, operation and service systems need to be more flexible and perfect, as well as innovative business models for the operation of the new energy vehicle market. Among them, the promotion of intelligent pure electric drive requires strengthening the following four aspects of efforts.
One is to clarify the new direction of electrification and intelligence, and innovate and improve the technology transformation strategy of "pure electric drive" for new energy vehicles. Complete vehicle products improve their quality in terms of overall efficiency (high specific energy storage, high specific power generation, high efficiency driving and energy recovery, intelligent control, lightweight car sound, etc.).
The second is to upgrade the core technologies of the "three powers", and strengthen basic research, application research and system integration innovation in high energy density power batteries, high power density fuel cells, high-performance drives and high-efficiency energy feedback, and intelligent control systems.
The third is to increase the research and development of fuel cell engines, promote regional commercial demonstration operations, accelerate the process of industrialization, and expand fuel cell application fields.
Fourth is to combine the implementation of a new generation of artificial intelligence major projects, develop an intelligent networked electric driving technology platform, actively commission the promotion of autonomous driving on the road, and gradually put it into market applications.
Nowadays, in the context of the global ban on the sale of fuel vehicles, Wan Gang specifically proposed that the internal combustion engine will be driven independently or in the form of hybrid power for a long time, especially in the fields of large passenger transportation, large cargo cloud, and large agriculture. There is still a broad market demand.
On the one hand, internal combustion engine technology will focus on improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions, focusing on high-strength orthodontic technology, high-performance key component technology, advanced fuel technology, low friction technology, low power consumption accessories, lightweight and waste heat utilization Organize scientific research in the fields of, post-processing technology, etc., with a view to playing an important role in reducing emissions in China’s transportation sector and responding to climate change.
On the other hand, the combination of internal combustion engine and electrification has become the development direction of automotive power technology. In addition to the technological innovation of internal combustion, more attention is paid to the technological innovation of the integration of internal combustion engine and electrification. Based on various oil-electric hybrid power systems, we can explore the research and development and application of new technologies that were difficult to be independently applied in the past, such as injection homogeneous compression ignition (HCCI), internal combustion engine range extender, and transfer engine.
